Celebrating Mom’s!

What is Motherhood?  Every mother remembers the exact moment they became a mom.  That moment is special and unique and happens at a different time for everyone.  Our paths to becoming mothers are just as unique; our reasons for choosing motherhood are varied; our values and parenting style are personal and important.  The internet and social media can put us mom’s in a tricky situation.  There is endless information at our fingertips.  The key is deciding which information can help us do a better job, and what information will make us feel less than competent.  It’s a constant battle of finding advice, looking for explanations, and trying not to compare or judge against other moms.

If there is one thing I have learned (and I feel like it took me a million years to learn this…. and I’m still trying to perfect it), it is that we cannot be good moms if we don’t take care of ourselves first.  Put your own oxygen mask on before your children’s.  A lot of mom’s really struggle with this.  Because what is motherhood if not sacrificing everything we can in order to give our children everything we have?  In a split second this little human’s needs become The. Most. Important. Thing.  There’s a lot of guilt involved in taking time for ourselves.  Until we do it.  And then we remember what that’s like.  We remember that if we fill that tank a little bit, we have that much more to give to our children!

One of my favourite things to see at Core is when Mom’s bring in their kids.  Sometimes to spin with them, sometimes just so they can see what their mom does when she says she’s going to “Spin”.  What better example can we be for our kids, than showing them how important it is to take of your body, your health, and your mind!  When parents Live Fit, we teach our kids to do the same.

For the month of May, we are celebrating our Core community of mothers! Being a parent right now is complex; let’s unite together and talk about the joys, sorrows, challenges and victories.

Thanks for reading,

Krista
